The Central Board of Secondary Education a.k.a. CBSE is one of India’s oldest education and examination regulatory board that functions as an autonomous body under MHRD, Govt. of India. CBSE is a nationalized board for education that gives affiliations of private and public schools across the country and is popularly known for its NCERT curriculum and prescribing syllabus for competitive exams like JEE, NEET, etc. Though CBSE has been quite flexible and experimenting with its syllabus and exam patterns every year the board seeks more amendments and changes for the next academic year. St. Xavier’s High School is a Top CBSE school in Odisha with an excellent educational method, and impressive progression to top schools in this country.
2020 will mark CBSE’s 58 years of establishment and affiliations to more than 20,000 schools. For an organization that forms the foundation pillars of the Indian education system, it is very important to stay relevant and responsive to the changes in learning and teaching methodologies. Hence, CSBE has decided to make some predominant changes in its syllabic and curriculum in order to improve the academic standard of the schools. For the year 2020, CSBE is going to introduce more objective type questions for board exams over subjective counterparts. About 25% weight age will be given to multiple-choice questions (MCQs) in all the subjects in board exam 2020 and only 60 marks out of 80 will be given to the subjective type questions where students are required to write the detailed answers. In the internal assessment of class 12 English, scores will be taken from ASL (Assessment for Speaking and Listening) where the writing and speaking skills of the students will be put to test. In the newest additions, there will internal assessments in all subjects and school exams marks will be counted in as a part of the final board result i.e. School exams now will weigh 10 marks in the final results of each subject.
St. Xavier’s High School in Dhenkanal is one of the top CBSE schools Odisha that believes that CBSE newest changes will help in reducing rote learning among students and encourage them for more practical learning, to develop analytical skills and reasoning abilities in students, to help students learning skills and ways to implement them in different fields.
