The Library at St. Xavier’s High School, Dhenkanal is more than just a room full of books—it’s a dynamic learning hub that promotes independent thinking, curiosity, and a lifelong love for reading. Designed to cater to students of all age groups, our library is a calm, resource-rich environment that supports academic learning as well as personal enrichment.
With a vast collection of over 5,000 books spanning fiction, non-fiction, encyclopedias, reference materials, and academic texts, students have access to the resources they need to grow and succeed.
In addition to printed materials, we offer digital resources, including e-books and subject-specific databases, which are accessible through our in-school network.
Our library plays a vital role in nurturing reading habits among students. Weekly library periods are scheduled across classes to encourage regular reading. We also host book fairs, reading challenges, and literary activities to promote language skills, comprehension, and imagination.
Students working on research projects benefit from dedicated reference sections and guidance from our trained librarian, who helps them navigate both physical and online resources effectively.
The library is designed with comfortable reading corners, individual study tables, and group discussion spaces. It is a quiet zone where students can focus on their studies, work on assignments, or simply explore new genres of literature.
Our library is also open to faculty, who use its resources to enhance their teaching methods. Teachers can borrow subject-specific teaching aids, journals, and academic publications to stay updated and support classroom instruction.
